What If The Bible Had Never Been Written
$19.99But the Bible, more than any other book, is also the most maligned on the market. Many of the cities of our culture dismiss the Word of God. In What If the Bible Had Never Been Written?, D. James Kennedy and Jerry Newcombe show that this collection of books was indeed the inspiration for almost all of the great explorers, scientists, writers, artists, politicians, and educators the world has ever known. That such a book, which has influenced so many and stood the test of time for so long, is dismissed as folklore or myth, just goes to show what extremes nonbelievers will go to rationalize their behavior.
From the Ten Commandments, which many of our laws and government are based upon, to the Golden Rule, a verse taken straight out of the New Testament, to many of today’s most common phrases and expressions…there is no doubt as to the influence the Bible has on everyone, in some degree, every day. What If the Bible Had Never Been Written? provides a well-documented and in-depth look at the impact the Book of Books has had on humanity, pointing to specific areas in today’s society that would not be as they are now, if it were not for the Bible.

Truth With Love
$16.99Francis Schaeffer was a well-known, extremely influential apologist and thinker who made his mark defending orthodox truth in the face of strong opposition. He was foremost in the vocation of apologetic ministry, and he was a brilliant man whom God used mightily during the decades of the 1960’s, 70’s, and 80’s.
In Truth With Love, Bryan Follis explores the theology and thinking that fueled the ministry of Francis Schaeffer, from his Reformed position to his understanding of fundamentalism. Follis examines Schaeffer’s apologetic argument and the role of reason in his discussions and writings. The position Francis Schaeffer took against modernism and its applicability in this day of postmodernism are studied as well.
This book is a beneficial resource for any Francis Schaeffer fan and any minister, teacher, or student who appreciates truth and its defense in the face of different kinds of opposition.

Many Faces Of Evil
$40.00A scholarly examination of the many ways evil is manifested.
Questions about God and evil can be perplexing. If God exists, why do children die of leukemia and malnutrition? Why does God allow torture and genocide? Why would a fair God condemn people to eternal suffering? Nonbelievers try to use evil to show that God’s goodness and the world’s wickedness can coexist.Beginning with a discussion of the logical problem of evil, theologian John S. Feinberg analyzes how several theologies do, could, or should handle the problem of evil. He then gives his own response to the problems of evil. Of special note in this revised and expanded edition is a chapter on the doctrine of hell and the benevolence of God in relation to unending torment.

Good Ideas From Questionable Christians And Outright Pagans
$32.99Wilkens provides a convincing rationale for why Christians should study philosophy by examining an important issue from the perspective of the following philosophers: Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Augustine, Aquinas, Descartes, Kierkegaard, Marx, Nietzsche, and Sartre. Although some Christians tend to view the faith of the above philosophers as questionable at best and non-existent at worst, Wilkens finds that many of their ideas can enhance Christian faith and yield valuable theological insight. In providing this accessible introduction to some of the key ideas and thinkers in philosophy, Wilkens finds strong grounds for living “the examined life” (playing off the famous quote by Socrates), urging Christians to engage in philosophical reflection, which can strengthen one’s faith and deepen one’s sense of wonder with the world God created.

Wedge Of Truth
$27.99IVP Print On Demand Title
Science is the supreme authority in our culture.
If there is a dispute, science arbitrates it. If a law is to be passed, science must ratify it. If truth is to be taught, science must approve it. And when science is ignored, stroms of protest are heard in the media, in the university–even in local coffee shops.
Yet a society ruled by science (and the naturalistic philosophy that undergirds much of it) faces major problems. Science speaks so authoritatively in our culture that many are tempted to use its clout to back claims that go beyond the available evidence. How can we spot when such ideological slight of hand has taken place?
More important, while we may learn a great deal from science, it does not offer us unlimited knowledge. In fact, most scientists readily acknowledge that science cannot provide answers to questions of ultimate purpose or meaning. So to what authority will we turn for these?
The deficiencies in science and the philosophy (naturalism) that undergirds it call for a cognitive revolution–a fundamental change in our thinking habits. And it all begins with a wedge of truth.
This wedge of truth does not “wedge out” a necessary foundation of rational thought. But it does “wedge in” the much-needed acknowledgment that reason encompasses more than mere scientific investigation. Phillip E. Johnson argues compellingly for an understanding of reason that brings scientific certainty back into relational balance with philosophical inquiry and religious faith.
Applying his wedge of truth, Johnson analyzes the latest debates between science and religion played out in our media, our universities and society-at-large. He looks to thinkers such as Newbigin, Polanyi and Pascal to lay a foundation for our seeing the universe in a totally different way. And from that base he then considers the educational programs and research agendas that should be undertaken–and have already begun in some earnest–during this new century.
In the end, Johnson prophetically concludes that the walls of naturalism will fall and that the Christian gospel must play a vital role in building a new foundation fro thinking–not just about science and religion but about everyhting that gives human life hopeand meaning.
